Food for Dogs

Keeping every rescue dog fed, every single day. Here's what it costs — and how far your gift goes.

What we feed

Every dog in our care eats real, high-quality food — a fresh-cooked base, premium kibble, and the supplements that keep their coat, skin, and joints healthy.

🍲

The Farmer’s Dog (DIY)

Home-cooked, human-grade meals made with fresh chicken and turkey.

🪡

Müenster dry food

A premium dry food base to round out balanced, everyday nutrition.

🦊

Ultra Oil Skin & Coat

Sardine, anchovy & hempseed oil — omega 3, 6 & 9 for healthy skin and a shining coat.

🦴

Nutramax Dasuquin

Joint-health supplement to keep our dogs — especially the seniors — moving comfortably.

We feed high-quality food and won’t drop the quality to save money. It costs us more, but our dogs deserve it. If you know a way to help us lower the cost without lowering the quality — a supplier, a donation, a partnership — we are all ears. Email us →

What it costs to feed our dogs

Each meal costs about $3.75, and every dog eats two meals a day — about $7.50 per dog, per day. Here is what that adds up to as Little Light House grows toward 100 dogs.

Dogs Meals/day Per day Per month Per year
1 dog2$7.50$225~$2,738
3 dogs6$22.50$675~$8,213
10 dogs20$75$2,250~$27,375
100 dogs200$750$22,500~$273,750

That’s 730 meals a year to feed one dog — and 73,000 meals a year once Little Light House is full at 100. Monthly figures use a 30-day month; yearly figures use 365 days.

Fill a bowl

$7.50 feeds one of our dogs for a full day. Every gift keeps real, healthy food in their bowls.
