Beau
Beau was Little Light Rescue’s very first rescue — and he almost didn’t make it.
Taken in by a small shelter in Junction, Texas, Beau — a pittie mix not even two years old — weighed just 30 pounds. Skin and bone, heartworm positive, severely anemic, and so weak from blood loss he was nearly out of time. A euthanasia clock was already running.
We found him through a network of dog lovers on Instagram who refuse to let dogs slip through the cracks — @tiffaneyalthoff, @lovecloudhaven, @bluegirls_harlow_luna, and @petpardon. The moment we saw him, there was only one thought: whatever it takes. Beau got his freedom on June 12, 2026 — and he’s been fighting his way back ever since.
His recovery
Within 48 hours of safety, his body started working again. By day five, his gums and ears were turning pink — life coming back online. At his first recheck, his red blood cell levels had climbed from 13% to 18% in a single week — no transfusion needed — and he was cleared to start a weight-gain diet to put on the ~10 pounds he needs. Heartworm treatment is still ahead, but he grows stronger every day.
His personality
Through all of it, Beau has stayed gentle, sweet, and impossibly trusting. He already knows “sit,” he’s crushing crate training, and he has so much light left in him. This is a dog who was failed by the world — and still chose to love it.
